Larry Honda is instructor of woodwinds, theory, music appreciation and jazz improvisation at Fresno City College. He joined the full-time faculty at Fresno City College in 1997 while at the time serving as the saxophone instructor at California State University, Fresno until 2004. He earned a Masters of Music degree in clarinet performance from the University of Southern California where he studied with Mitchell Lurie and David Shifrin.

Mr. Honda is a jazz educator and performer, having studied with saxophonists Gary Foster, Warne Marsh and Lee Konitz. As a jazz saxophonist, flutist and clarinetist he has led combos and big bands in Los Angeles and Fresno. His jazz and classical worlds met when he joined the Woody Herman Orchestra in a performance of Stravinsky’s Ebony Concerto with Richard Stoltzman at the Hollywood Bowl.
