Les Nunes is a trombonist/vocalist/guitarist that has lived in Central California since 1979. He leads his own jazz groups in addition to playing with the jump/swing group 'The After Dinner Mints,' the salsa and latin jazz group "Rumba 32," 'The Hal Magnie Big Band,' 'The Mike Yturralde Big Band,' 'The Jazz Composers Orchestra,' and his own group "Fire and Rain" that performs classic folk/rock. In addition he is the founder of the San Joaquin Valley Trombone Ensemble. Les has taught music for 32 years and currently teaches three jazz bands, concert band and brass classes at Clovis High and Clark Intermediate. He recently was named the Jazz Educator of the Year for California 2016 by the California Music Educators Association (CMEA). He is a board member of JazzFresno.
