Scats on the Sly

Active ImageHow do you take pop and jazz standards from the 1920’s and 30’s and make them fresh again?  Scats on The Sly does it the old fashioned way with precision, personality and a lot of love for the “string swing” brand of music they play.  With a hybrid of hot jazz and western swing reminiscent of the Hot Club of Cowtown and Dan Hicks and his Hot Licks, this rollicking retro quartet will take you on a musical journey back to a time when songs had charm and sophistication and beat boxes, synthesizers and Marshall stacks had yet to make an appearance.
From the affectionate, light-hearted “You’re The Cream in My Coffee” to the sentimental, romantic “I Can’t Give You Anything But Love”, the supple, swinging rhythms and of Scats on The Sly will tickle your funny bone, tug at your heartstrings and leave you saying, “They don’t write ‘em (or play ‘em) like that any more!”

Scats on The Sly are:  Mike Newton, guitar; Sue Beevers, fiddle; Martin Hansen, bass; Mallory Moad, vocals.
