Hall Magnie BandJazzFresno and the Fresno County Public Libraries host (free and open to the public) Jazz @ the Library, Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at the Woodward Park Regional County Library located at 944 E. Perrin Ave. (Champlain & Perrin).

In times of social turmoil, artists of all kinds strive to respond with art that cuts through the noise and resonates with the collective spirit. In jazz and improvised music, this response often takes abstract form, flows from a sense of shared purpose, and manifests as a dynamic conversation between expressive artists. Burning Ghosts, the daring new album from the Daniel Rosenboom Quartet, is a prime example of an impassioned response to ubiquitous social injustice. In this presentation Daniel Rosenboom and his bandmates will discuss and demonstrate the concepts and methods that explicate why collective improvisation and challenging music is a potent response to the seemingly endless string of “bad news.”

The Daniel Rosenboom Quartet is: Daniel Rosenboom (trumpet); Jake Vossler (guitars); Richard Giddens (bass); Aaron McLendon (drums).

The group will also be performing a late night set at Veni Vidi Vici Tuesday evening at 10pm. (21+ over.)
