Kim Richmond, a world-class jazz saxophone and woodwind artist, composer, studio musician, 2003 Grammy Award nominee, director of the Kim Richmond Concert Jazz Orchestra, and Kristin Korb, a multi faceted bassist and jazz vocalist will be featured in a jazz concert Friday night July 7th at the Fresno State Concert Hall, as part of CSU Summer Arts. This concert will also feature other Summer Arts jazz faculty, including Mike Dana, Rick Helzer, Brian Hamada, and Bob Athayde. More information is available by calling CSU Summer Arts at 241-6090.

Ray Santos is a living legend in the world of latin jazz and salsa. A four-time Grammy® Award winner for Latin music, and Academy Award nominee for Best Song in a Motion Picture in the film “The Mambo Kings,” Ray Santos has collaborated with artists such as Linda Ronstadt, Julio Iglesias, Tito Rodriguqez, and Dizzy Gillespie among others. Santos will conduct a 20-piece orchestra with music from the Latin Big Band Era of the 50’s to the present.

One of the biggest names in latin jazz and salsa, GRAMMY award winner Poncho Sanchez comes back to Fresno this Memorial Day weekend, Friday May 26th, to kick of the 2006 “Nights in the Plaza” concert series at Arte Américas. Poncho's music is an infectious blend of salsa and soul jazz, and his many recordings on Concord Picante records feature everyone from Ray Charles to Joey DeFrancesco, the Jazz Crusaders, Dianne Reeves, Tower of Power, Eddie Harris and many more.JazzFresno will present a special after party at the new Mezcal Bar & Grill (Van Ness and Merced Streets) with food and live music, with proceeds benefiting JazzFresno.

This month the Rhythms of Art Series goes "electric" with a concert titled "Pulp Modernism" inspired by the exhibit of the same name currently on display at the Fresno Art Museum. This concert marks the debut of a new band, the Armen Nalbandian "Broken Ground Ensemble" featuring Kevin Hill, Brian Hamada, Aaron Wall, and Dustin Peterson.
