Steve Alcalá is a trumpeter
Steve has presented his groups at various conferences such as IAJE, CMEA, FMCMEA, Migrant education and others. His groups have received awards at jazz festivals such as the Monterey Jazz Festival for high schools in CA, the Reno Jazz Festival and Berkeley Jazz Festival just to name a few. His groups have also performed in and out of the state of California. Steve also teaches music and computers where students learn to use Finale, Sebelius, Pro-Tools and Sound Forge music software. Steve Alcala is also responsible for establishing and teaching the Fresno City College Latin Jazz ensemble (10 years), the Roosevelt mariachi, steel drum, jazz and Latin jazz bands. Steve is currently serving as president of Arte Americas, a Mexican Arts museum. While being involved on the Arte Americas board, Steve is responsible for concerts with artists such as Arturo Sandoval, Eddie Palmieri, the Spanish Harlem Orchestra, Ray Santos, Orestes Vilato and many other Latin jazz artists.
Steve is married to Sofia and has two children, Robert 17 and Adan 12 as of November 2006. Steve also has coached baseball and follows his sons around the country for baseball tournaments.
