The FCC Jazz Composers Orchestra
|
The Fresno City College Jazz Composers Orchestra is directed by Mike Dana, head of the jazz studies program at Fresno City College. The group was formed in 2004 as a "home" for many
of the valley’s finest jazz musicians, educators, and composers. The
band rehearses every Monday night in the fall, and performs two
concerts each year. All members play professionally, and
have performed with an impressive lineup of jazz and pop artists. The
ensemble focuses on new and challenging music by today's best jazz
composers, including its own members. "As educators, we think it's important that out students see
us out there performing, doing the things we try to get them to do. The
Fresno area has a vibrant jazz scene, and we're proud to be a part of
that. And, it's a treat just to be playing music with so many great
musicians!"
