Fresno City College and JazzFresno present the 17th annual City Jazz Festival - Thursday March 29th and Friday March 30th at Fresno City College. This year the festival celebrates "Women in Jazz" and features two evening concerts with world renowned guest artists. On Thursday night, March 29th, acclaimed trumpeter Ingrid Jensen will be joined by the Fresno City College Jazz Ensemble, for the annual City Jazz awards concert. Then on Friday night, March 30th, GRAMMY award nominated jazz vocal star, and Telarc Records recording artist Tierney Sutton, will perform, with her band. Sutton was named "Jazz Vocalist of the Year" in 2005 by the JazzWeek magazine. A special pre-concert VIP reception will be held prior to the Tierney Sutton concert on March 30th. The $75 VIP ticket includes special reserved seating for the concert, admission to the VIP reception, a signed CD by Tierney Sutton, and membership in JazzFresno. Featuring the Armen Nalbandian Trio
Armen Nalbandian presents the first Rhythms of Art Concert of 2007, Thursday night January 25th, at the Fresno Art Museum's Bonner Auditorium. This concert not only returns Nalbandianto writing original compositions inspired by the Fresno Art Museum's exhibited art but also is the first R.O.A. concert to strictly feature his acclaimed trio with Brian Hamada & Kevin Hill since June 2006. This concert will feature Nalbandian's compositions inspired by the paintings of Lisa Esherick. The concert will feature both configurations of the Armen Nalbandian Trio: one with acoustic piano and the other with the Fender Rhodes mechanical piano. The concert will also feature singer/songwriter Julia Dawn in soloperformance and in a duet setting with Nalbandian. This concert also marks a special collaboration between Armen Nalbandianand The ONE Campaign. Nalbandian has declared that all proceeds from this concert will go to benefit the ONE Campaign which to fight the emergency of global AIDS and extreme poverty.

Featuring Saxophonist Peter Epstein
Roughly 50 Middle school and High School Big Bands from up and down California and as well as high school combos will perform at the 19th annual San Joaquin Valley Jazz Festival - Friday and Saturday February 2nd & 3rd at Buchanan High School in Clovis. This year's featured artist is saxophonist Peter Epstein, who will perform with the Buchanan High School Jazz Band A, as well as in clinics at the festival. One day tickets passes are $8 (both venues). More information is available by calling 559-327-3225.

Over 40 intermediate school and high school jazz ensembles from throughout Central California will perform at the 2007 Mid Valley Jazz Festival at Cherry Avenue Middle School in Tulare CA, January 24th and 25th. See the complete schedule below.
Directions: Take the Prosperity Ave. Exit , turn right on Prosperity
and then make the first left turn onto Cherry avenue. Go down about a
half mile on the left side and you will see the school.
