Take a moment out of the hustle and bustle of the holidays, and celebrate the spirit of the season at 90.7 KFSR's first annual 'Tis the Season Jazz Concert - 2:00pm, Sunday December 17th at Fresno State. You'll hear jazz versions of your favorite Christmas and wintertime songs, performed by saxophonist Jimmy Emerzian with the Craig VonBerg Trio, featuring Craig VonVerg on piano, John Laufenburger on bass, and Brian Hamada on drums. The concert will be held in the Wahlberg Recital Hall in the Music Building at Fresno State, and a post concert reception will follow. Tickets are $10 for KFSR members, and $12 for non-members. FCC offers Jazz Theory Class

A reminder that Fresno City College will be offering Jazz Theory this spring. This class is only in the “rotation” about every fourth semester, so if you (or a friend or students) are interested, this is a great time! The class will cover lots of topics that are important to jazz performers at all levels:
* Chord construction
* Scale construction
* Chord/scale relationships
* ear training
* common jazz chord progressions
* how to learn/memorize tunes
* lots more!

JazzFresno to present Gilbert Castellanos Feb 9th

February 9th at Roosevelt High Auditorium

Active Image JazzFresno presents trumpeter Gilbert Castellanos and his quintet, in concert at Fresno's Roosevelt High School Auditorium, Friday February 9th at 7:30pm. Gilbert grew up in Fresno, and attended Roosevelt School of the Arts. He is now one of the top trumpet players in Southern California, and in addition to leading his own group, is a member of the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra. His most recent CD "Underground" was released by Seedling Records in summer 2006. A special pre-concert conversation with the artist will take place at 6:30pm.  This event is funded in part through a grant from the Community Enrichment Program, administered by the Fresno Arts Council.  Special thanks to the Roosevelt School of the Arts for their support of this concert.
